These comprehensive clinics focus on the skills needed to jump successfully both in and outside the ring. Our instructors have an extensive background in both jumping and cross country riding and will address the needs of each group. Visit the Calendar of Events for information about each instructor. The divisions offered are: Introductory ( for horses or riders who have never jumped in the open) Elementery (for those with limited cross country experience) Beginner Novice (for those with moderate cross country experience) and Novice (for those seeking to improve their skills). Our June 15 clinic will also include a division for those who want to learn how to approach trail obstacles. Classes are limited, so sign up early. Ride times will be announced after the closing date.

The 8 mile course includes almost 40 cross country jumps and attracts riders from all over New England. The jumping division is for those who wish to proceed at a fast pace and jump all the jumps. Hilltoppers travel at a moderate pace and pick and choose fences. The Junior division must have at least one rider under the age of 18 and will be scored at the hilltopping pace. The trailblazers ride at a leisurely pace- perfect for the green horse or rider. Ride out between 8:00AM and noon. There are no assigned start times.
Our barbequed chicken dinner is prepared and served by the Pomfret Lions Club and is included with the entry fee. Extra lunches can also be purchased in advance or at the pace.

This year’s Pomfret Hunter Pace is offering the opportunity to help those in our community who are battling cancer. Registered Pomfret Hunter Pace riders can also choose to participate in the 3rd annual Pace for a Purpose to benefit Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Cancer Fund. With the addition of Pace for a Purpose, riders are now offered an element to make this event even better: the knowledge that they are helping local cancer patients who are in need of treatment such as mammograms, chemotherapy, medications, and other services and don’t have the resources to obtain them. Let your donation support your community. Riders who raise a minimum of $50.00 in donations will receive a special thank you gift. The highest fundraiser will receive a gift certificate for a portrait of their horse by equine artist, Helen Scanlon. A special benefit drawing open to all will also be held on the day of the event.
